WE’RE SAFE…RIGHT?
This photographic series was developed as part of an awareness campaign aimed at highlighting the silent precautions many women take every day simply to feel safe when leaving their homes. Inspired by real conversations and personal accounts, the images explore the physical and psychological routines women adopt — from carrying keys as potential weapons to sharing live locations or avoiding headphones.
My intention was to visually capture the invisible labour of self-protection, and to challenge the misconception that threats of violence are limited to a specific type of person. The women depicted in this series vary in age, background, and identity — reinforcing the truth that the fear of harassment or violence is a widespread, shared experience.
By placing these precautions at the centre of the frame, I wanted to confront the viewer with the unsettling normality of this behaviour, and open up space for empathy, awareness, and dialogue. This series does not aim to shock, but rather to humanise — to quietly amplify what is too often overlooked or dismissed.
