PERIOD.

This series was created to challenge the stigma surrounding menstruation and to normalise its presence within everyday life. Through these images, I aimed to celebrate the natural, powerful, and often overlooked beauty of something experienced by half the population — yet still treated as taboo.

Each photograph was carefully styled and composed with public-facing platforms in mind, such as advertising spaces and editorial campaigns. The visual language balances subtlety with strength, allowing the subject matter to be both thought-provoking and accessible.

Symbolism played a key role throughout the series — from the use of deep reds and organic textures to represent flow and vitality, to positioning and props that quietly reference protection, shame, and strength. Technically, I used soft but directional lighting to evoke intimacy, combined with a clean, commercial finish to ensure the work felt suitable for mainstream visual culture. By framing menstruation in a way that feels honest, unapologetic, and empowering, the series invites viewers to reconsider how we see — and speak about — the most natural of human experiences.
